Hey everyone,
So it was a slow week and I was trying to figure out what I was gonna report to you guys today.  So while I was sitting in Sacrament pondering this question I looked back and saw one of our inactive members that hasn't been active in over 2 years, right now we are teaching her son.  What happened was her mother and sister in law offended her right after she got baptized resulting in her inactivity.  So we've taught her about forever families, and forgiveness, and the atonement.  Then yesterday they came to sacrament.  I was shocked but very happy, then it just got better after that.  Right after sacrament her mother in law came up and gave her a hug and they just sat there hugging and crying.  The mother in law apologized over and over and told her how happy she was to see her in church.  This was awesome to see because Philipinoes hold grudges like none other and for her to forget about it and come to church was a miracle.  Then for Sis. Penaflor to reach out to her like that was truely a miracle! That literally made my Day! Then as they walked out, I shook the sisters hand and sister Penaflor came up an gave me a hug and cried.  She was so grateful that we had gone to thier house and tried to get her back to church it was awesome.  That is just one way I've seen the fruits of our labors this week!  Although that moment was small and to some insignificant it made everything worth it.
Other than that, I don't have anything great to tell you guys.  We have 1 investigator with a Baptismal date and we're gonna try and baptize her the end of this transfer which is the 2nd week of March.  We'll see how it all goes.
Sorry this is short but I gotta run
Love you all

Hey everyone,
Until next week

Hey everyone,
This week not much special has happened. We had zone conference on Wednesday which was awesome. My companion and I have not been getting along very well lately and I was harboring some less than nice thoughts about him, but I knew I needed to have the spirit for Zone Conference, so...I prayed all morning and when it started I still wasn't feeling it, but, as time when on, I started recieving insights from the Sprit! It was awesome, by the end I had no bad thoughts about my companion, and I haven't really since then, it was awesome, President Aquino teaches so well with the spirit I know he was called of God to be our Mission President.
Today we we spent our whole P-day building a bathroom for a lady in the ward and her family. It was hot and dirty, but it was GREAT! I had so much fun! We dug the hole, then filled it back in because it was in the wrong place and dug it again in the right place, then mixed the concrete, and set the posts then poured the concrete, all of this is by hand ha ha. And we used bamboo for everything! ha ha the posts: bamboo, the ties in the concrete floor: bamboo. The stabilizers for the bamboo posts: Bamboo, it's used for everything over here, its cool.
I get to go on splits tomorrow for the first time as District leader and I'm a little bit nervous. I'm only 5 months in the field and the other missionary is over a year now! Talk about intimidating! ha ha but I've learned lately to really rely on the Lord. He will not abandon us if we have the faith. I'll write more about it next week, how it goes.
One story about the spirit guiding:
We recieved a referral from one of our members here and we went out to their house, and come to find out, the people were not there, so we visited for a while then left for our next appointment. We had to cross an old wood bridge to get to their house and before we left I had a thought, what if someone fell in. I invisioned it in my head, they step on the offside of one of the planks then fall into the river, well, we were leaving and the members were walking out with us and sister stepped on the offside of the plank, hit her head on the cement, and rolled down into the stream below, I felt sooo bad. I knew it was going to happen and I didn't do anything about it. I recieved inspiration from the Spirit and I didn't act, and because of it a 62 year old lady has some bumps and bruises today. I learned from that experience I need to be more obedient and listen a little better. This mission has been a HUGE learning experience for me and I'm so thankful for it. I know that I need to live worthy to recieve the Spirit and he tells us things to help others and ourselves. We all need to listen to the Sprit and apply it in our lives.
I know the Lord is in this work on every hand and we need to heed to his direction. I've really been thankful for him lately. I pray for you all always, and thank you for your support and prayers,

8 February 2010
Hey everyone,
I hope this letter finds everyone well. I'm doing good here in Floridablanca and of course, its still hot! ha ha. Not much new is going on. We've got a family that the dad is in the states working abroad, there's a lot of families like that here in the Philippines, but they usually go inactive when he's not here to make them go to church. So we've been going there every week and sharing with them. Last week when we were sharing I got the impression I needed challenge them to do scripture study everyday. So I did and they all accepted it was cool. Then when we will go there every Thursday we will do it with them and if they have questions and whatnot we can help them. We'll see how it goes but I was feeling pretty good about the whole idea.
One of our investigators, Cyrene, has a mom that is a member. When Elder Lebbon was here she was always so shy but we went there the other day it was the first time with Elder Alvarez and she seemed a lot more open with him. I think she might have just been intimidated having 2 americans teaching her. It was neat to see how she opened up. I hope we are able to commit her for baptism and have her accept this time, but we'll see.
On Friday we had a community service project. One of the members has a friend that has horses, and of course I wanted to see them. Come to find out, his horses were about starved to death and he used to have 3 but now he's down to 1. Last week he had 2 but the one ran into a fence and cut itself up pretty bad and ended up dying. So we took some weeds to the one he still has to try and fatten it up a bit and i went to try and pet it but it tried to bite me! ha ha I'm glad I went slow. It was just a dumb colt but its the only horse I've seen over here like that. It was cool. Then come to find out the guy had tigers! Yes the big Black and Yellow cats! He has 3 of them! But they were really skinny. I felt really bad for them but it was cool to see them. Then he had some big ol snakes and a big monkey, it was cool.
One of the members mom died last week and on Wednesday we had a Funeral Service for her. It was really neat to see how the whole branch got together and rallyed around this member in his moment of grief. It was a reassurance that this is the Lords church and it should be like this. He gave a talk and after he comes up to me and he was like, I'm usually really scared to talk in front of crowds but I wasn't there, I told him that it was the spirit and he was speaking with the spirit. It was a really nice service and Elder Alvarez and I were very excited to be able to participate in it..
Well I think thats about it for this week
Thank you everyone for everything
Until next week
